BLE believes that all Public School students should graduate high school ready to enter the work force and/or go on to post-secondary education. This is not the case for several school districts and many individual schools in Massachusetts. BLE supports a variety of initiatives at the state and local level to improve the education and life opportunities for our students and achieve the universal goal above. Starting with the 2010 MA legislation which opened the door to new Charter Schools and gave new powers to system superintendents to fix failing schools within their districts, BLE has influenced legislation, negotiations, budgets and operations at the state and local level. Our members donate time and resources to work on specific projects and advise school leaders on many issues. Our key initiatives are described in this section.
